Availability checks

Overview

In Izix, checking available capacity is crucial for effective reservation management. Capacity fluctuations throughout the day mean that some time slots may be available while others are not. Reservations are aligned with the quarter-hour marks of an hour, meaning they can start at 00, 15, 30, or 45 minutes past any given hour. The following methods provide different ways to check for available capacity based on a profile's access rights and desired reservation times.

Usage Notes

Checking Availability via Dry Run

  • Method: The simplest way to check availability for a specific profile is to make a call to the post reservation endpoint with dry_run set to true. This method immediately indicates whether a reservation is possible under the specified conditions without creating an actual reservation.

Checking Available Time Slots

  • Method: To understand which 15-minute slots are available, use the available periods endpoint with the specified time filter. This method is particularly useful for locations like parking lots with regular turnover.

Checking Current Capacity

  • Method: To determine the current capacity, call the available-spots endpoint for a specific access policy during a particular time frame. Note that this method does not confirm whether the profile meets all the conditions for a reservation. It is advisable to first verify the relevant access rights by calling the access-rights endpoint.

Recommended Workflow for Comprehensive Availability Check

  1. Retrieve Access Rights: Start by obtaining all access rights associated with a particular profile to identify all accessible policies.
  2. Perform Dry Runs: Conduct a dry run for each access policy to check availability under the conditions specified by the user.
  3. Check Capacities: For access policies where the dry run indicates availability, call the available-spots endpoint to assess the actual capacity available, enabling the user to choose based on capacity levels.
