Platform Overview
Welcome to the overview of the Izix platform. This document is designed to provide a high level understanding of the architecture of the Izix solution, outlining its main functional components and their interactions. This will enable product teams to grasp how they can effectively integrate with the Izix system.
Introduction
The Izix platform is a robust system designed to manage parking capacity and access rights through a combination of software and hardware solutions It primarily serves a non-public, multi-tenant use case where the majority of access rights are long term (leases and subscriptions) as opposed to short term tickets. It integrates various components that work together to deliver seamless parking management and access control services. Below, you will find a high level representation of the system.

Core Parking Capacity and Rights System
Description
The Core Parking Capacity and Rights System is at the heart of the Izix platform. This component is responsible for handling all the business logic related to parking capacity management and access rights. It ensures that parking spaces are allocated efficiently and that access rights are correctly managed based on leases, predefined rules and user rights. Customers get access to extensive administration portals in order to manage their allocated parking capacity.
Key Functions
- Capacity Management: Manages the inventory of available parking spaces for specific zones or organizations (leases) and allocates them based on specific parking attribution rules defined at building or organization level. Act as a single source of truth for parking utilization.
- Access Rights Management: Defines and maintains the rules for who can access which parking spaces and under what conditions.
Public API
Description
The Public API serves as the interface through which the Izix application and third-party applications interact with the Core System. This API enables external systems to perform operations such as querying parking availability, making reservations, and managing user profiles.
Key Function:
- Integration Support: Allows third-party applications to integrate smoothly with the core functionalities of the Izix platform.
- Data Exchange: Facilitates the exchange of information between the Core System and external applications.
Access Control API
Description
The Access Control API interfaces with both the Izix access control system and third-party access control systems when the case applies. This API is crucial for validating access requests and ensuring that only authorized users can operate physical access barriers.
Key Functions
- Access Validation: Ensures that users requesting access meet the necessary criteria before getting granted entry or exit. Denials can be related to schedule, payment, availability of spots, validity of credentials etc.
- Passage logbook: All passages are logged via the Access Control API in order to keep the single source of truth up to date.
Izix Mobile App
Description
The Izix mobile app enhances user experience by providing functionalities directly to the user’s smartphone. This app allows users to book parking spaces depending on rules enforced at the user level, open access gates, and manage their personal profiles.
In some cases, the Izix mobile app is not used and replaced by a partner's app or even the customer's custom application thanks to a direct integration with our public API
Key Features
- Parking Booking: Enables users to reserve parking spots directly from their mobile device.
- Gate Operation: Allows users to open gates using their mobile devices, facilitating smooth entry and exit.
- Profile Management: Users can update their personal information and preferences directly through the app.
Izix IoT Access Gateway
Description
The Izix Access Control System manages physical barriers and processes access control requests. It works in conjunction with the Access Control API to ensure that all access is properly authorized and recorded. The ACS includes various physical devices such as keypads, ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) readers, and gateways. These devices are integral to the functionality of the access control system.
In certain cases, parkings are already equipped with various types of access control or parking management systems. In this case, Izix will not offer the Access Control System but rather act as a validation system thanks to an integration with our Access Control API.Learn more about this here
Key Components
- Request Handling: Processes access requests from the mobile app or physical devices such as ANPR readers, keypads etc.
- Barrier Management: Controls physical barriers like gates to allow or deny access.
